How a fishmount is made

At Global Fish Mounts we take pride in creating a product that will last a lifetime

The fish molding process is by far one of the most important steps in the making of a trophy fish mount. At Global Fish Mounts we build our molds from real fish. We have literally travelled the world to make these molds and will continue to do so in order to be able to handcraft any fish mount possible.

At Global Fish Mounts we have the privilege to see the work of art that our specialists create on a daily basis.  We can proudly say that our expert mold makers have utilized the technique we invented and molded more fish than anyone in the world!  This is a bold statement, however considering that craftsmen have built and have continued to perfect their art for over 50 years,  we are confident that no one else can state the same. Needless to say that Roger, our master mold maker and all our artists take pride in their craft. Our entire organization have the same mindset, that only perfection is good enough.

Early on there where companies producing mounts from plaster. However we never adapted this process since the mounts produced where never built with a quality and detail that we would accept. Instead we were striving for a process that would allow us to craft and provide our customers with a product that would look great and last a lifetime.

As a result our company pioneered the process of what marine taxidermy is today. We invented and have now perfected many of the complex procedures involved in creating a life-like fishmount. We were the first company in the world to create a fiberglass fish mold by using various treatments and applying layers of fiberglass directly on the fish itself. This technique allow us to get an exact print of the fish and able us to reproduce the fine textures and characteristics of each individual species.

After all, when someone catches their first trophy fish, it is a moment they will never forget. Therefore our objective is to accompany this great memory with a fishmount, so life-like that it looks like the fish just coming out of the water.
